A Unique Team Challenge

The activity introduced participants to the fundamentals of orienteering through a specially designed grid-based course. Working in teams, participants had to interpret the grid, identify and navigate between designated checkpoints, and complete the course as quickly as possible.

But there was a twist!

Before crossing the finish line, each team had to solve a jigsaw puzzle, adding an extra layer of problem-solving to the race. This meant that speed alone wasn't enough. Teams had to combine navigational accuracy, quick decision-making and effective coordination to complete the challenge.

Beyond the Finish Line

More than just a race, the Grid Relay Challenge demonstrated how orienteering can be adapted into an effective team-building experience. By bringing together navigation, spatial awareness, communication and collaborative problem-solving, the activity encouraged employees to think strategically while working towards a common goal.

It was wonderful to see employees embrace a new sporting experience with such enthusiasm, proving that orienteering isn't limited to forests and outdoor trails. Sometimes, all it takes is a grid, a team and a willingness to explore something different!

A new setting, a new challenge, and another opportunity to bring people together through orienteering.

With teams competing against one another, the warehouse soon transformed into a lively arena of friendly competition. The relay format kept participants engaged, with every team striving to complete the course in the shortest possible time.

The fastest teams completed the challenge in approximately 10–12 minutes, demonstrating impressive coordination and an eagerness to take on the unfamiliar sport. For many, this was their first introduction to orienteering, making the enthusiasm and competitive spirit all the more encouraging.
